Bled Castle

Travelers who decided to explore the amazing country of Slovenia , it is always recommended to familiarize yourself with such a landmark as Bled Castle. It is an ancient monument of this country and impresses with its unique architecture and history.

History of erection

The history of the castle began more than a thousand years ago, then in this area was built only one tower in the Romanesque style, which was called Feldes. The building belonged to the emperor Henry II, he granted it to Bishop Albuin. In the Middle Ages the construction was decided to be strengthened and for this purpose the fortress walls with towers in the corners were erected. Over time, the wall was destroyed, so today you can see only the arch in the Gothic style, which serves as an entrance inward. There is also an old lift bridge near the entrance.

The peculiarity of the castle is that it was not used for the needs of high-ranking persons, therefore it does not contain in its interior luxurious things and halls. Since the end of the 19th century, the owners of the castle have been constantly changing, and then found themselves in the hands of the state. In 1947, there was a fire, after which a significant reconstruction was carried out.
