Beaches in and around Prague

Prague beaches have well-developed infrastructure, and one very significant drawback: within the city of Vltava, it sometimes gets so polluted that the sanitary services prohibit swimming in it.

The best Prague beaches are:

  1. Prazhachka . This 200-meter beach is well suited for families. The beach is equipped with sun loungers, there is a volleyball court, and live music is played in the bar. And most importantly - if suddenly bathing in the river will be prohibited, here you can swim in the pool size of 15x7 m.
  2. Lazne Lazne is one of the cleanest places for swimming. It is in the upper reaches of the river and is considered one of the best urban beaches in Europe. It occupies a beach 3.5 hectares. Here you can play volleyball or petanque, ride a catamaran on the river. There is on the beach and a small climbing wall, and a special children's pool, playgrounds. There are a number of restaurants and bars, a cinema, and several swimming pools at Zálut Lázně. There is a beach from 9:00 to 02:00. There are often various musical events here.
  3. Podil Beach has 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pool; they are equipped with springboards. Sometimes it is called a beach, sometimes a swimming stadium, but one way or another, you can have a great time here.
  4. Lake Gostivarzh . On its shore on the south-eastern outskirts of the city (in the area of Prague 10) there are 2 beautiful sandy beaches. In the lake you can not only swim, but also ride a catamaran, a boat, water skiing, windsurfing. Fans of outdoor activities can play volleyball or tennis. You can relax after the game in one of the many cafes. Near the lake there is one of the best nudist beaches in the Czech Republic.
  5. The beach of Divoka Sharka , named after the heroine of the Czech legends, is located on the territory of the eponymous nature reserve. There are several swimming pools waiting to be bathed, filled with water from the Sharetsky brook. You can swim in the lake Zhban, where there is even a "paddling pool" for kids (by the way, there is also a nudist beach here). The beach itself is well equipped.

Beaches of the Czech Republic outside of Prague

Still, real lovers of beach holidays recommend to travel outside of Prague . Where exactly? The best places for rest, according to tourists, can be called:

  1. The South Bohemian Sea (Lipno reservoir) has a length of 48 km; on its shores there are several beautiful beaches. The reservoir itself is popular not only with beach people, but also with lovers of yachting and windsurfing.
  2. Makhovo Lake . It is an hour's drive from the Czech capital (65 km) and is rightly considered one of the best holiday destinations in the country. The lake of artificial origin (appeared in 1366 after the river, by the order of King Charles IV, was blocked by a dam) has an area of almost 300 hectares. Service here is almost ideal, and the possibilities for rest are endless.
  3. Career lakes of Old Boleslaw (especially worth noting is the Lake of Probosht).
  4. Lake Slapy (Slapskoe Reservoir) is 40 km from Prague. This reservoir also has an artificial origin, it was created only in 1955. Tourists are attracted by clear clear water and beautifully equipped beaches. You can take a boat trip on the lake or go fishing .
  5. Poděbrady Lake . There is a tennis court and children's playgrounds, shops and cafes, a concert ground. From the main beach you can go for a nudist.
