Australian Park of Reptiles

In the city of Somersby, an hour's drive from Sydney , is the Australian reptile park. This house is for various reptiles, including crocodiles, snakes and lizards. It is worth mentioning that this landmark is also famous for its considerable collection of spider and snake venoms, which are later used as antidotes. It is interesting that thanks to them, more than 20 thousand people have been saved to date.

What to see?

For the first time this park was founded in 1948 in an aquarium in a small town called Umina Beach, 11 years later he moved to North Gosford. Already in 1996, he finally moved to Somersby.

On its territory live American alligators, Komodo lizards, crocodiles, funnel-shaped water spiders, turtles, tarantulas, tarantula spiders, iguanas, geckos, spider masons and many snakes. There are lovely koalas, frogs and birds on its territory. In addition, here you can see the Fruit, this is how locals called the skeleton of a dinosaur of the genus Diplodocus.

Everyone can visit a number of exhibitions offered by the park:

  1. Lost World of Reptiles is an opportunity to see for yourself the lost world of reptiles: the 30-meter-long crocodile, the most poisonous Australian snakes, the 6-meter-long python, the big turtle, and all sorts of lizards.
  2. Spider World is one of the most stunning park areas. Here every visitor will see everything that ever wanted to learn about spiders.
  3. Eric's Nature Walk was created especially for those who are crazy about birds. In this huge aviary live stunning local birds. It is worth noting that this walk is named after the famous crocodile Erik, who in 1989 was the celebrity of the park. In addition, in memory of him on the territory of the monument is a memorial.
  4. "Crocodile Elvis" - he now lives in a house, which until 2007 populated the famous Eric. In 2011, Elvis learned about the whole world: it was he who once bothered to steal a lawn mower from one of the park's employees, as a result of which he lost two teeth.
  5. Nocturnal House is the newest addition to the Australian reptile park. Within its walls are unique and, unfortunately, endangered night residents of Australia.
  6. Frog Hollow - the world of frogs, in which you can find out all about these lovely creatures. In addition, every guest of the park has the opportunity to see the notorious reed toad.
