A shot from the temperature

In most cases, it is not necessary to bring down heat, because an increase in body temperature is the correct reaction of the body to infection, provokes the death of pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Exceptions are situations where hyperthermia is too strong and the body warms up to more than 38.5 degrees. This leads to an excessive burden on the heart and blood vessels, negatively affects the work of the brain.

A special injection from the temperature, which is often used by doctors of the ambulance team, consists of 2-3 medicines. This injection works as quickly as possible, within 10-15 minutes.

Can I make injections at a temperature?

Intramuscular introduction of an antipyretic mixture is indicated in the following cases:

To knock down the temperature, the shot is performed once, only in emergency situations. It is not recommended to systematically use such a strong method of fighting heat, if possible, medicines in other dosage forms (tablets, syrup, suppositories, powder for suspension) should be preferred.

What are the injections done at high temperature?

For the rapid removal of hyperthermia, a mixture of medicines is used. They consist of 2 or 3 different medications. Names of preparations for drawing up pricks from temperature:

  1. Analgin (metamizol sodium). It produces a pronounced analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect.
  2. Diphenhydramine (diphenhydramine). It is a strong anti-allergic drug with sedative and hypnotic properties.
  3. Papaverine. It belongs to the group of myotropic antispasmodics, it helps to expand the arteries and increase blood flow.
  4. But-Shpa (drotaverine). It is considered an analogue of Papaverin, relaxes smooth muscles, relieves spasms.

The combination of Analgin with an antihistamine and antispasmodic helps strengthen its antipyretic effect, accelerate the normalization of body thermoregulation, prevent overloading of the heart muscle and blood vessels.

An effective and quick-acting prick to reduce the temperature is obtained by mixing the above solutions in various combinations and dosages.

Variants of antipyretic mixtures:

1. Two-component:

2. Three-component number 1 ("triple", "troika"):

3. Three-component number 2:

4. Three-component number 3:

All the medicines that make up such a prick are collected in one syringe and mixed in it in turn - first Analgin, then Dimedrol and, if necessary, the chosen antispasmodic.

How much does the injection affect the temperature?

The duration of the result depends on the cause of hyperthermia, the severity of the infectious inflammation, which provoked heat, as well as the state of the body's defense system.

Typically, the proposed options for injections against the temperature are quite long, about 6-8 hours. But in rare cases, their effectiveness is reduced, and 80-120 minutes after the injection the fever resumes. Such situations require repeated administration of the drug mixture.

It is important to note that it is often dangerous for the cardiovascular system and the liver to use emergency antipyretic injections. Allowed the introduction of a mixture of up to 6, a maximum of 8 times a day for 1-2 days. During this time it is necessary to find out the cause of hyperthermia and try to eliminate it in other ways.
