Once in the center of Israel , it is worth to go to the area of Kibbutz Eyal, which is famous for its museum. As exhibits there is a huge collection of old cars. The main part of the collection is dedicated to British cars from the period of the 30s - 50s of the last century.
What is interesting about the museum?
The internal structure of the museum is more like a hangar, where old cars are installed, each of them is at different stages of restoration. A huge popularity among visitors to the museum cars Jaguar and Mercedes. There are machines that have a very original shape, for example, they include the following:
- BMW 50-ies, which resembles an egg. This is a very miniature car, the entrance to it is not located on the side, as usual, but in the front, where the so-called door reclines with the steering wheel;
- one of the first sports mini-cars of the 1930's. Many details in this machine are made of wood and fabric, it has a fairly primitive dashboard;
- a beautiful convertible in 1954 without a roof;
- the popular car of the 50s Citroen 2CV, which in the US is called the Ford T or Volkswagen Beetle, it has only two horsepower.
- next to Citroen is a slightly improved model, which was produced in the period 1960 to 1971, it is already with two motors and more massive than the previous one. However, this model was not in demand at that time, so only 700 cars were produced. Surprisingly, there are two engines in the car 2 ignition locks and under the hood;
- in the collection there is a car, which in its kind is very similar to the Soviet Muscovite, it uses a popular yellow color for that time.
For the visitors of the museum, a personal tour can be conducted by the owner himself. Uri Saam is not just a lover of old cars, but also an experienced specialist in automotive matters. He named the museum in honor of his daughter Keren Saar. The guide-owner will tell about each car and tell wonderful stories about how these cars got to the museum. Also in the building there is a library containing books on automotive subjects.
How to get there?
The Keren Saar Antique Car Museum can be reached from the Kfar Saba area, and regular buses run from there.
