A mill of newspaper tubes

Gifts made with their own hands never lose their relevance. Remembering this, tireless needlewomen invent all new techniques and sometimes use the most unexpected materials. So, for example, not everyone knows that there is a method of making souvenirs and interior items by weaving from newspaper tubes. This find allows you to combine business with pleasure, that is, to do something beautiful and at the same time to get rid of newspapers that collect dust, take up space, but are stored in such a way, just in case.

One of the options for using this technique is the weaving of a mill from newspaper tubes. The mill, made by means of newspaper weaving, can become an independent decoration, for example, a summer cottage, and can be used to decorate a basic gift, for example, a bottle.

It is extremely easy to make such a work, but the work requires diligence and perseverance because of its painstakingness. But the spent efforts are worth it, because the finished product looks very original and can take a worthy place in any interior.

We will need:

Weaving mills from newspapers:

  1. To begin with, we take 8 tubes plus 2 auxiliary ones and begin to consistently weave the bottom of the size we need.
  2. After the bottom has reached the desired diameter, we lift the tubes, put a heavy weight on the bottom, for example, a bottle.
  3. If you braid the bottle, the design will be more even and more accurate.
  4. Next, we insert a wire into the vertical tubes and continue to weave, but already along a rigid frame.
  5. We bend down one tube, leaving it for the window of our mill.
  6. We continue to braid the remaining vertical tubes.
  7. Next, turn the product upside down.
  8. We continue to weave from below on the tubes, which are arranged horizontally.
  9. We will sew 5-7 rows and raise the tubes up.
  10. We continue to braid the tubes raised up.
  11. The main part of our building is ready.
  12. From the pieces of cardboard we make a roof for the mill, fixing it in the right places with scotch tape.
  13. We fasten it to the mill, for reliability it is possible to fix with glue.
  14. Then cover the roof with newspaper tubes.
  15. Surplus cut off, leveling the edges.
  16. We begin to manufacture blades.
  17. We fix them on the roof of the mill.
  18. Finished product covered with paint or stain, and then varnish.
  19. The mill of newspaper tubes is ready.
