World Population Day

On July 11, 1987, the UN celebrated the Day of Five Billion People Who Live on Earth. And 2 years later, in 1989, it was this day that was included in the register of World Days and was named the World Population Day.

Since then, every year on July 11 , the whole world celebrates World Population Day, carrying out a series of activities aimed at deep awareness of the problems associated with the sharp increase in the population of the Earth and the environmental problems and threats caused by it.

I must say that today the population has already exceeded the 7 billion mark. And according to experts' forecasts, by 2050 this figure will approach or exceed 9 billion.

Of course, this increase is not as sharp as it was in the last 66 years (from 2.5 billion in 1950 to 7 billion in 2016), but it still carries some concerns about natural resources, the state of the environment for which activities humanity has a direct impact.

In the 21st century, special attention was paid to the problem of global warming in the World Population Day, the indisputable cause of which is population growth and overly active people.

Undoubtedly, a significant role in the emergence of fears about active population growth is due to the fact that the highest birth rate in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Here, the mortality rate is high, and the life expectancy is lower than in the New World. And yet, the birth rate here is traditionally very high.

How is the World Population Day?

In order to solve common problems for all of us and draw public attention to global issues, as well as to plan and forecast issues related to the social and economic situation, every year in the world, events are organized that enable us to discuss opportunities for sustainable development, Urbanization, employment, health and so on.

Every year the World Population Day is held under a different motto, which allows us to consider the problem of population growth from both sides. So, in different years the motto of the Day was "1 billion adolescents", "Equality gives strength", "Planning a family, you plan your future", "Everyone is important", "Vulnerable people in emergency situations", "Empowerment of girls- teenagers ".

Thus, the international holiday is designed to prevent the death of the planet and focus on a complex demographic situation, find a way out of the current circumstances and ensure a decent standard of living and health of every inhabitant of the planet.
