World Day of Peace

World Day of Peace (another name is the International Day of Peace) is a holiday established to attract the attention of the world community to such a global problem as international conflicts and wars. After all, for many inhabitants of our planet who live in a state of instability or even open armed confrontation, such a state as "peace" is only an elusive dream.

What day is World World Day celebrated?

The history of the World Peace Day holiday originates from 1981, when it was decided by the decision of the UN General Assembly to establish the International Day of Peace on the third Tuesday of September. This was due to the fact that for most people living in prosperous countries, the feeling of calm and security seems so familiar and self-evident that it is difficult to imagine how in a huge number of places on the globe military conflicts continue and every day they die not only military, but also civilians: the elderly, women, children. It was to attract attention to the problems of these people that the World Day of Peace was invented.

In 2001, an additional UN resolution was adopted that determined the exact date of the celebration. Now the World Peace Day is celebrated on September 21. On this day, a day of universal ceasefire and non- violence is held .
