When you decide to land on your site roses, be prepared for a troublesome and constant systematic care. The fact is that the grade from the variety sometimes differs drastically, but almost all existing species and varieties require attention almost equally. Of course, some changes in the shade of foliage sometimes do not even pay attention, but at times it is a sign of the disease. Therefore, it is worth taking a responsible attitude to the question of why roses have red leaves and stems.
What to do when the rose has red leaves?
The reasons for this phenomenon are many, and all of them we will put in the list below:
- First of all, we note the so-called natural causes. First, we will analyze what should be the leaves of red, and any other, roses:
- old foliage is usually a saturated dark green color, but the young can fully have a shade of red. The fact is that the leaves acquire this shade due to the presence of anthocyanin in them. The darker the shade of the bud, the more intense the contrast between the leaves. There is such a thing as sunburn. For example, in the spring, red leaves can appear on the rose, if you take it out of the penumbra into the sunlight not gradually, but immediately. If the leaves are elastic and there are no other problems, you should not worry.
- When the shoots and leaves are covered with brown spots with red edges, this may be a symptom of stem cancer (the cause is wintering in too wet conditions or contamination during pruning);
- the answer to the question of why the rose has red leaves may well be mild powdery mildew (with this problem there will also be yellow-brown spots, and the sheets themselves will start spinning).
- the shortage of nitrogen will show up with pale young leaves and old dots covered with red dots, while all of them begin to fall rapidly;
- To answer the question why the rose has red leaves and stems, it is possible to lack phosphorus (the color is almost purple, and purple strips appear along the edge, the bloom also lags);
- but the lack of magnesium will give itself away as red spots between the streaks of the plate, first the old leaflets are affected, then the redness passes to the young.
