Architectural monuments

Yalta and the Crimea as a whole is a tourist attraction, covered with legends - Swallow's Nest . The location of this amazingly beautiful structure is the Aurora rock on Cape Ai-Todor. Originally there was a small wooden building. Later, sculptor Alexander Sherwood created a project, in which in 1912 a castle built in the Gothic style appeared on its place. From a distance it seems that the castle is about to fall down from the cliff, and the views that open from the observation deck are fascinating.

One of the most original in terms of architecture of buildings in Yalta is the Emir of Bukhara, built in 1903. Faceted, semi-circular, rectangular volumes, belvedere, loggias, terraces and porticoes are organically combined in the architecture of a powerful two-story structure. The Moorish style is emphasized by exquisite capitals, openwork carvings, balustrades, horseshoe windows and crenellated parapets. Today in the Emir's manor there is a library of the sanatorium belonging to the Black Sea Fleet, therefore it is very difficult for tourists to get to the palace, but an external examination will give you a lot of emotions.

Interesting places in Yalta, which are worth a visit, include religious buildings from different eras. In 1832 on the Polikurovsky hill in Yalta the construction of the church of St. John Chrysostom began, which ended in five years. During the war, from him remained only the bell tower, which served as a landmark for seamen. Now the temple of Zlatoust has been restored.

In 1903 another sight appeared in Yalta - Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, built in the Russian style. Its construction, the architect N. Krasnov dedicated to Alexander II, who died tragically.

Three years later, the same architect presented the Catholic community of the city with another temple - the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Theotokos, which is nowadays often used in Yalta for concerts of chamber and organ music.
