The harsh climatic conditions of Siberia could not but contribute to the development of skiing in the region. In the mountain system of the Western Sayan lies one of the few ski resorts in Khakassia - Gladenkaya.
Ski resort Gladenkaya
This small tourist base was founded relatively recently - in the 80s of the XX century. In the 90s the resort began to gradually lose popularity and even collapse until the restoration of the complex began in 2002. The ski resort received its name from the Gladenkaya Mountain of the same name, on the north side of which the main slopes for skiing are located.
The ski runs of the resort are amazing not only for their diversity, but also for their considerable extent. Incidentally, here you can hold competitions in almost all ski disciplines, in addition, the resort has a certificate FIS. For example, the longest stretches are 3500 m and 4200 m with a drop of 830-930 m. There is a simple training route for beginners and children. Equipped with tracks for half-pipe and free-ride.
The ski runs of the Gladenkaya resort are equipped with three lifts, one of them is towed, and two cable-chairlifts. Slopes are treated with snow-sealing machines, and also there is a system of artificial snow making.
The season of skiing at the resort Gladenkaya begins at the end of November and lasts until early May. However, in the warm season there are cycling routes.
Accommodation and après-ski resort Gladenkaya
Guests of the recreation center Gladenkaya in Khakassia stop at the Gladenkaya sports hotel located in the Babik Valley, which is only 7.5 km away, and there is a regular bus service to the trails. A cozy four-storey hotel decorated in wood in the style of a European chalet.
After active rest tourists are waited with various entertainments: a bar, restaurant, an open skating rink, a sauna and a bath, a massage office. The tourist base also offers horseback riding, excursions to the reserved places of Western Sayan.
