Warts - Causes

People, usually, do not consider warts to be dangerous and do not think about the reasons for their appearance. And the prevalence of various means and methods to combat this disease is due to the fact that outwardly the warts do not look very aesthetically.

Causes of the appearance of warts

Warts are an infectious disease caused by the human papillomavirus . This virus, actively multiplying, causes an intensive growth of the epithelial and underlying papillary layers of the skin. You can get infected with the papilloma virus from the external environment and by contact with a sick person. Once on the skin in one place, the virus can spread to other parts of the body.

Although it is easy to pick up the human papilloma virus, two factors are necessary for the appearance of a wart:

  1. Violation of the integrity of the skin. Scratches, burrs on the fingers, cracked skin, marks of insect bites. It is for this reason that warts mostly appear on the fingers, as it is on the hands that the skin most often comes into contact with the external environment and is damaged.
  2. Decreased immunity. If the body is weakened, the immune system can not withstand the virus and as a result, warts develop. Therefore, the frequent appearance of warts or a large number of them indicates that you need to conduct a screening for other diseases.

How can you get infected with warts?

Infection occurs in the following cases:

  1. With direct contact with a person who has warts.
  2. When using common objects with an infected person: dishes, bed linen, towels.
  3. Use of untreated antiseptic tools for manicure and pedicure.
  4. When walking barefoot in the bath, pool or sauna, if there was a person infected with the human papilloma virus. Not observing the precautionary measures in such places is a common cause of not only warts, but also fungus on the legs.
  5. Wearing tight, uncomfortable shoes can cause plantar warts.
  6. Sexual contact with an infected partner can lead to genital warts in the genital area.
