The first clock was hung on the wall many centuries ago. Since then, the wall clock has undergone many metamorphoses and improvements. Now they not only show the exact time, but also decorate the interior. Design exhibitions amaze with a variety of options: the old clock with a pendulum, which would be an excellent decoration for a living room or cabinet in the classical style, strict forms - for minimalistic interiors, unusual and original - for interiors in the Art Nouveau style.
Among the works of famous designers there is a copy that will perfectly suit the interior of one of the rooms in your house. But not everyone wants to spend several hundred dollars on a wall clock.
Here we need a non-standard approach to the situation: we will try to make unusual designer wall clocks with our own hands. Thanks to our master class you can hang in the house famous watches, the design of which was designed by the icon of the design of the twentieth century by George Nelson.
We need:
- plywood wheel (diameter 33 cm);
- wooden balls with a hole (12 pcs.);
- wooden sticks (12 pcs.);
- clock mechanism on the battery;
- glue "liquid nails";
- sandpaper;
- drill;
- nippers;
- acrylic primer;
- aerosol paint of two colors;
- black cardboard;
- scissors;
- pencil and ruler.
- Wipe the plywood circle and wooden balls with sandpaper, dust off.
- Measure out the optimal length of the wooden shelves, the rest nip off the pliers.
- Make a hole for the arrows in the center of the plywood circle with the drill.
- At the end of the plywood circle make 12 holes, in which you will need to insert the sticks. To measure the equal distance between the holes, use the protractor-make a pencil mark every 30 degrees.
- Put glue in the holes and fix the wooden sticks.
- After the workpiece should be treated with a primer. When the primer dries, apply several layers of white paint.
- Wooden balls should be painted separately. String balls on the remains of wooden sticks and stick them into a piece of polystyrene. To paint them with a neat even layer, you need to use only spray paint. Applying a brush, you will not get the desired result. We chose scarlet and white colors for making original wall clocks with our own hands. If you do not like this kind of product, the Swiss factory Vitra offers a lot of other color combinations.
- When the balls dry, string them on sticks and fix with glue "liquid nails".
- Attach the clockwork mechanism to the plywood disk, and on the back side the arrows cut out of thick black cardboard.
Such wall clock, made by own hands, you can decorate the kitchen, bedroom or living room in the Art Nouveau style.
This is not the only option for making decorative watches with your own hands. To make this accessory, you can apply any of your talents and skills. If you like drawing, color the usual hours. And if you want to emphasize your love for the fine arts, make a wall clock from the usual palette for paints.
