Types of Kalanchoe

Usual since our childhood Kalanchoe, the juice of which moms and grandmothers buried our nose in rhinitis is an evergreen herbaceous shrub plant of the Tolstyan family (has fleshy, thick stems and leaves).

The healing properties of plants are not exaggerated, even its name translates as "health". Their action is based on the anti-inflammatory and blood-hardening effect of plant juice, which is effective in fighting viruses, mold and bacteria.

In nature there are more than 200 species of Kalanchoe, but at home only some of them are grown. The homeland of street species of Kalanchoe is the hot countries of South Africa, Madagascar and Asia. What species are most often grown at home and what kind of Kalanchoe is curative - we learn together.

Species and varieties of Kalanchoe

The most common and habitual species are Degremona and Periste Kalanchoe. In addition, it is these types of Kalanchoe that are curative. Daughter plants are formed directly on their leaves of a triangular shape. Between the teeth on the edge of the leaf are formed brood kidneys, from which grow a tiny plant with roots. Falling into the ground, they immediately take root.

Blossoming species of Kalanchoe are, first of all, Blossfeld. A small shrub growing to 45 cm in height. Has dark green smooth leaves, slightly wavy along the edges. The plant blooms with beautiful inflorescences on long peduncles. Flowers can have a variety of colors: white, orange, yellow, red.

From Blossfeld, another decorative-blooming variety, Kalanchoe Kalandiva, was bred. It differs in smaller sizes, shortened peduncles, a large number of inflorescences of terry and non-marble flowers of a variety of colors. Flowering lasts a long time - up to six months.

Another blooming Kalanchoe is Mangina. He has smaller leaves, and the flowers have the shape of bluebells 2 cm in length, located on drooping stems.

Other varieties of Kalanchoe

Snow-white calanchoe - with rounded leaves of silvery-green colors with a red border around the edges. Flowers in small yellow flowers.

Kalanchoe Béchar is a semi-shrub plant with straight stalks, from which leaves fall with age. The leaves themselves have a triangular shape with a wavy edge. They are as if covered in a gray-blue bloom.

Felted Kalanchoe - with silvery oblong leaves and a brown border. Their name was received from behind the edge along the edge of the leaves.

Marble Kalanchoe - with unusual coloring of leaves. They are all in brown spots, like marble. The flowers are white, an average length of six centimeters.
