History of construction
The exact date of the construction of the mosque is not established, but the first mention of it in the annals refer to 1528. Most likely, it was then that its erection was completed.
The architectural ensemble of the religious shrine of Muslims is:
- structure with one main dome;
- An open portico with several smaller domes around the main part;
- a stone minaret.
In the yard there is not so much space, but there is a small, charming garden, drowning in flowers, with two slender, high poplars and a beautiful fountain.
Destructions during the war
Unfortunately, the mosque, like many similar structures, the cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, suffered significantly during the fighting of the Balkan war, which lasted from 1992 to 1995.
After the end of the war, the mosque underwent a global reconstruction, it was restored, actually returning the original form, and later, in 2006, to the list of National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
