The Mosque of Cuba


Not far from the holy for all Muslims of the city ​​of Medina in Saudi Arabia is the Al-Quba mosque - the oldest ever built. Its construction was started by the Messenger of God Prophet Muhammad, and his companions have already finished. In the XX century, the Egyptian architect was instructed to erect a large mosque, including the old one in its composition.

However, the project was later changed, and a new building was erected on this site.

Architecture

The building of the mosque of Cuba in Medina, photo of which can be seen below, consists of a prayer hall of rectangular shape. It is crowned by six large domes supported by cluster columns. The women's prayer hall is separated from the rest of the room by a special portico. The corners of the building are decorated with four tall octagonal minarets. Outside, the building is faced with white basalt. The courtyard of the mosque is made of white, red and black marble.

In the mosque there are six additional entrances, which are located from the western, eastern and northern parts of the facade. The prayer hall is connected to all other rooms:

From the moment of the birth of Islam to the present days, this mosque is a favorite place for all Muslims. Many pilgrims who visit Medina during the Hajj and Umrah aspire to pray in the al-Quba mosque.

It is desirable to visit it on Saturdays, but if there is no such possibility, then it is possible on any other day. Muslims believe that during their stay in the mosque and praying in it, one can approach Allah.

How to get to the Al-Quba mosque?

This shrine of the Muslim world is located near the center of Medina. Aircraft of foreign airlines take in Medina International Airport Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulazis. From the airport to the mosque of Cuba, you can drive by car for about 25 minutes.
