Than to erase a membrane?

Membrane clothing is the best choice for fans of winter sports. A special coating protects the outer clothing from getting wet: it is a "film" with micro pores that prevent penetration of moisture, but lead to evaporation of moisture. Choosing a jacket or ski suit with membrane technology, you should know what it is allowed to wash such clothes, so as not to destroy the already short-lived covering of high-tech fabric.

How often should I wash membrane clothing?

As it was said above, such clothes are not considered incredibly durable. The fact that it is not intended for daily wear - it is purchased for outdoor activities in the cold season or ski tourism. The matter is complicated by the fact that its owners often prefer to give up regularly cleaning such things because of their high cost, rather than washing things out of the membrane.

Despite its excellent water-repellent ability, the membrane really needs regular and competent care. The pores of the hydrophilic coating are easily clogged with particles of dirt, and therefore over time their protective functions are reduced. At the same time, whatever you are going to wash the membrane, do it no more than 2-3 times a half a year to maximize the life of the jacket.

Than to wash sports clothes with a membrane?

For washing, you can not use even the most high-quality and sparing powder: it clogs the pores just as dirt does. If the powder contains bleach, it will also "stretch" the micropores, permanently damaging the protective coating. For these purposes, it is recommended to purchase a gel remedy for membrane and synthetic fabrics and a soft rinse aid. However, they can replace the usual liquid soap or shampoo. Rinse the membrane in home air conditioners based on soda, vinegar or essential oils is prohibited. Such substances wash away the dye from the fabric, so the color of the clothes becomes uneven.

When hand washing, watch the water temperature: it should be warm, but not hot. Boiling water "melts" the mesh structure of the membrane. Washing in cold water is simply inefficient.
