Sound insulation of walls with own hands

Noisy neighbors sometimes just stop resting quietly in their own walls, and if someone repairs it, then you can only dream of a quiet sleep. To enjoy the rest in your apartment, it is worth taking care of the soundproofing of the walls in the house. Ideally, it's better to immediately soundproof the ceilings and floors, then calmness and coziness will reign in your room. And to make the soundproofing of the wall itself, as all the necessary materials in free sale and the work itself is not difficult.

Sound insulation of the walls of the apartment with their own hands

  1. The author of the lesson decided to soundproof the ceiling and the floor beforehand. The principle of operation is no different from working with walls. First, we attach a metal frame to the ceiling, used for plastering walls.
  2. After that, soundproof material is laid between the frame. In our case, a mineral heater is used . It performs two functions at once: it keeps the heat in the apartment perfectly and protects its inhabitants from external noise. On sale there are roll and tile heaters of different thickness. Here everything depends on the size of the room and the height, which you can use under the lining.
  3. If you decide to completely isolate the room, then before making soundproofing of the ceiling and walls, you will have to isolate the floors.
  4. For the floor it is preferable to use mats made of fiberglass, which are stitched and reinforced. Lay these insulation mats can be even over the old linoleum.
  5. Further we put bars from a tree, but we do not fix them rigidly. If you use the fasteners, then in soundproofing there will be no sense, because all the noise will pass through the fasteners.
  6. For soundproofing of walls and floor by own hands we will use the same tiles from a heater. An important point: the wooden beam should not touch the walls, and in the gaps it is necessary to lay sound-absorbing mats, this is the so-called principle of the floating floor.
  7. Next, consider the nuances of soundproofing the walls with your own hands. When the frame from the profile is fixed to the wall, it is necessary to lay all walls with a sound-absorbing gasket. Then the sound will not penetrate the fasteners.
  8. The profile itself before fastening should be glued with a damping tape.
  9. We lay the whole wall with soundproofing material.
  10. Before work, always consider how you will lay wiring.
  11. After the main stage, your room will look something like this.
  12. Now it's time to move on to the last stage - the skin. In this case we use drywall. To the walls it is fixed in the usual way. But to the floor there are additional requirements. To avoid rigid communication and not to violate the principle of floating floor, pre-lay a layer of damper.
  13. After all will be sewn with plasterboard, it is necessary to smudge the joints and the places of fastening with putty.
  14. We level the surface and carefully coat it. Then install the ceiling skirting.
  15. As a result, a very cozy and quiet atmosphere was created.

When soundproofing walls in the house it is important to remember some points. Regardless of the thickness of the selected insulating materials, you lose the height of the ceiling and part of the space. So it makes sense to think in advance about lighting and find a good interior solution for visual expansion of the room.

Do not skimp on dampers and drywall. For walls and ceiling, its thickness should not be less than 12.5 mm, otherwise the work will not give the expected result. A bad damper will transmit all the vibrations to the metal frame, and the drywall will in turn turn into a membrane.
