The installation of the siding, produced by one's own hands, is a simple and quick way to give the building a more neat and beautiful appearance, to highlight it with a color solution among other houses. The prices for this finishing material are quite democratic, and the technology of operation is quite simple, so that such repairs can be performed quickly, independently and without spending large amounts of money.
Installing the battens
The technology of installing the siding involves first installing the battens around the entire perimeter of the walls of the house, and already on it fastening the finish panels.
- Before you start nailing the crate, you should remove all the protruding elements from the walls, such as carved cornices, window casings, rain gutters, lighting elements. Also, it is necessary to free the walls from the old coating if it is not tight, has chips or holes
- The lining is built from wooden blocks or metal profiles for plasterboard and is nailed to the wall perpendicular to the future siding (that is, if you plan to put the trim panels horizontally, the crate should go vertically, if vertically, then the crate is made horizontal). The distance between the bars should be 30-40 mm, and the height of the bar is calculated, based on whether there will be a heater inside. If yes, then the height should be 1-2 cm more than the thickness of the insulation material.
- When the bars are packed, a layer of insulation (for example, mineral wool) should be placed between them. This is the next point of the outdoor siding installation. The heater is nailed to the wall in several places for better fixing.
- A special waterproofing layer is fixed above the heater, which will protect it from moisture and other unfavorable factors. On top of it are packed small rake (with a section of about 4 * 2 cm), which will ensure the ventilation of the facade.
Facade siding installation
The correct installation of the siding begins at the planning stage of the finish . It is necessary to carefully calculate the amount of this finishing material and draw up a project. Then buy it in the right amount and cut it. Siding cutting can be carried out using electric saws or electric jigsaw, knife-cutter or special scissors for metal.
- After finishing the lining on the wall, it is necessary to fasten the starting bar. It is established as follows: the lowest point of the wall is determined, just above it a temporary nail is hammered. Then the same is hammered at some distance, and so on all four walls. Between them a line is drawn - this is the line of the upper edge of the starting plate, at the marked level it is either nailed or screwed onto the screws.
- The first siding strap is installed on the starting board and snapped, and then nailed or screwed with self-tapping screws along the entire length of the battens.
- Each subsequent siding is lapped to the previous one. Thus all walls in the house are finished.
- An important stage in the installation of facade siding is the fixing of corner, connecting, finishing laths, as well as those that frame doors and doorways. All these slats are sold you are already finished and have the standard form. Such slats are superimposed on the siding panel on both sides and fixed with screws.
- Angle and connecting bars run perpendicularly vertically, regardless of the main direction of the siding.
- The finishing strip is mounted at the very top of the wall and should be as close as possible to the house's curtain. Only after its installation is the last siding strip installed, which snaps into the lock in the finishing strip.
