Great Russia is rich not only with its history, but also with folk costumes. Women and girls were given a special outfit for each event, which indicated the social status and status of the society. But also an integral part of the women's wardrobe was the Russian folk costume, which also has its own history. But today we will not talk about the history of the origin of the winter costume, but about what this outfit consisted of, actually.
Winter Russian folk costumes
Unlike men who had everything rather simple, women in winter had more difficulty, because they had to put on a whole lot of clothes.
If in the warm season the outfit was a sarafan and a lower cotton dress, then in winter, warmer fabrics were used for making clothes, and clothes became larger. So, for example, in the Russian national women's winter costume included such elements of clothing as:
- Shubeyka - short winter swinging outerwear, sewn from brocade and warmed with batting. In the kit to the fur coat, fur lining and a fur collar were usually sewn. Shubeyku could be worn by women from high society, and he was worn only on holidays.
- Cloth watchdog is a long off-season outerwear. The upholstery was fastened from top to bottom with buttons, and the edges of the clothes were decorated with sewing of gold threads. The sleeves were long, but with slits, so they hung.
- Dushegrei - short swinging clothes, which usually was worn over the sarafan. For its sewing expensive diaper fabrics were used, and the edges were decorated with a border. It was worn by all women, regardless of their social status.
- Telograya is a swing outfit, with buttons or ties and reaching the length to the hips. In shape and silhouette very much resembled a fur coat. She was sewing warm clothes from expensive fabrics, such as brocade, satin, velvet and fur.
- Fur coats and fur coats are warm outerwear, the availability of which spoke of solvency and was usually given to girls in dowry from their parents. Peasant women also wore fur coats, but they were made of sheep's wool.
- Also in the Russian folk costume were stockings, which in winter were extremely necessary for women. The top was connected with woolen threads, and the sock was made of sheep's yarn.
- Also in the winter women's wardrobe you could find warm shawls and headdresses.
