Rack in the garage with their own hands

In the garage there is usually a huge number of tools, small parts, devices, necessary in order to quickly repair the car. It stores winter / summer tires, depending on the time of year, and sometimes a bunch of small things that do not have a direct relationship to the car. That's why the organization of a place in this room plays a particularly important role. And a self-made shelving in the garage for their storage will help to solve this problem.

What is a shelf?

Shelving is a structure consisting of several shelves for storing various items, as well as for easier access to them. Racks are straight, placed along the wall, and angular. The main difference between the shelving and the hinged shelves is that it is mobile enough and, if necessary, it can be moved from one wall to another. Garage racks serve primarily for convenience, and aesthetic characteristics go to the background, so this furniture can be easily produced by hand. Shelving can be made of wood or metal and their combination. But we'll look at how to make the simplest straight wooden racks

How to make racks in the garage?

Let's consider step by step how to make a rack:

  1. We choose the necessary wooden blocks and boards for the thickness and height. Proceed from what will be stored on them, and also what width, length and height the shelving should be. It is better to take pine from a tree, since it is the most durable, and it is easy to work with. Also for the assembly we will need self-tapping screws.
  2. First we cut the bars and boards onto the parts of the required length.
  3. At the next step we collect the racks. They are a framework of longitudinal and transverse bars. Vertical bars are the racks of the future rack, on horizontal later we will lay the boards forming the shelves.
  4. Dock two opposite racks with a cross board. We have it from one side and, by sawing the required groove, fit tightly to the vertical rack.
  5. Close to the first lay the rest of the board. We fix them with screws. We get the shelves of our rack.
  6. In fact, the assembly has already been completed. But the shelf of the boards does not look very neat. Therefore, for greater ease of use, the tree needs to be ground.
  7. The ground shelf can be painted or varnished. And you can immediately begin to use.
