Rabat attractions

Going to the new city, of course, I want to see the brightest and most unusual of its places. In each something its own, special, is not an exception and Rabat with its huge number of attractions, most of which are protected by UNESCO. This eastern city, beckoning and calling, will remain in your heart forever and leave a lot of pleasant emotions and memories. As in all capitals, the city has sleeping areas, business districts and a historical center.

What to see in Rabat?

Several epochs coexist in the city - modernity with its laconic high-tech skyscrapers and an old medina with enchanting clay buildings and lacy metal arcades. In Rabat there is something to see: religious buildings and fortresses, mausoleums, palaces-museums and just palaces, parks and gardens of incredible beauty.

  1. One of the most interesting attractions in Rabat can be called the Hassan Tower - this symbol, famous since the Middle Ages, is in fact an unfinished minaret of the 12th century mosque. Admire the ruins of the once grand mosque on Boulevard Mohamed Lyazidi. There you can visit the mausoleum of Mohammed V , built of Italian white marble.
  2. On the outskirts there are the ruins of the Roman city of Sala Colonia, bordering the necropolis of Schellach and the ruins of the Arab town of Schella , which are also worth a visit. This is an amazing place - the citadel on the citadel, where the Arab and Roman cultures were intertwined. An ancient mosque and a Capitol temple were also preserved there. In the same place there are centuries-old gardens, under the shade of which you can take a breath, watch the graceful storks that have chosen this place. The entrance to the necropolis is paid.
  3. Well, and how not to visit the monument of Moorish culture, one of the main attractions in the city of Rabat - Kasbah des Oudayas. This is an ancient fortress, built up by houses with blind fences in Portuguese blue and white tones. It is worth noting that the fortress in our time is not empty, there live about 3 thousand people.
  4. Among the museums the museum of Udaya located in the palace of the first sultans of the Alauit dynasty is noteworthy. Its main feature is the geometrically rigorous Andalusian garden . And the main pearl of the museum collection is the collection of Koranic publications.
  5. Very interesting for visiting is the royal palace in Rabat - Dar el-Makhzen . It impresses with its size and beautiful views in a traditional oriental style.

In addition to the above, in Rabat, as in Morocco itself, there are enough sights to enjoy the stay in this wonderful eastern country.
