Propolis is a unique natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, antibacterial and antifungal agent, it is widely used in medicine and cosmetology.

Prescriptions of preparations on propolis

Thanks to the medicinal properties, the recipes of preparations with propolis in folk medicine are many. It is used in its pure form, as an alcohol and water extract, on its basis ointments, balms, candles are made.

The recipe for tincture on propolis

Most often tincture is prepared, based on the ratio 1:10:

  1. Propolis before freezing (to crumble), crush, fall asleep in a container of dark glass and pour alcohol.
  2. Insist means 10 days, shaking at least 3-4 times a day.
  3. After this period, keep the tincture for 10 hours in the refrigerator and filter.

It is best to prepare propolis tincture suitable 70% alcohol, but the recipe allows you to replace it with vodka, although in this case the concentration of the drug and the effectiveness will be lower.

Water extract of propolis

Most often at home, a 30% solution is prepared:

  1. To do this, take about 30 grams of propolis per 100 ml of water.
  2. The ground propolis is poured with water and kept for about an hour in a water bath.

The product is stored in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.

Propolis oil extract

There are two most common recipes:

  1. The first involves mixing alcohol tincture with liquid oil (most often sea-buckthorn) in equal proportions and standing on a water bath until almost all the alcohol evaporates.
  2. The second recipe, more common, is the re-heating in a water bath of propolis and butter (15 grams of propolis per 100 grams of oil).

Recipes for treatment with propolis

  1. Propolis tincture is used as a disinfectant for disinfection of superficial skin lesions.
  2. When purulent otitis in the ear for 2-3 minutes, a tampon moistened in tincture is placed. Repeat the procedure up to 3 times a day.
  3. Inflammation of the oral mucosa uses a tincture or an aqueous extract. They are first bred at the rate of one tablespoon per glass of warm water.
  4. For inhalations for colds, alcohol tincture is diluted in a concentration of 1:20, and water extract - one tablespoon per glass of water.
  5. To treat diseases of the stomach, usually used oil extract of propolis, the recipe of which is given above. Take it on a teaspoon for a glass of warm milk 2 times a day.
  6. With hemorrhoids, prostatitis, inflammatory diseases of the uterus - in the form of candles.

Propolis in Cosmetology - recipes

With hair loss

5% alcohol extract of propolis is recommended to rub into the scalp in its pure form. If the concentration of the available solution is higher, it should be diluted with boiled water.

Firming Mask

To prepare a firming hair mask, mix a tablespoon of burdock oil, 3 drops of grapefruit essential oil and half a teaspoon of alcohol propolis tincture. The mask is applied for 15-20 minutes, up to 3 times a week.

Mask for dandruff

To prepare a mask for dandruff, mix half a teaspoon of propolis tincture, 3 tablespoons kefir and 1 teaspoon of St. John's wort oil. The mask is applied in the same way as the previous one.

Propolis from acne

Propolis can be used to rub the skin with acne, but given that the alcoholic infusion dries heavily the skin, it is better to apply a pure tincture point and dilute 3-4 times.

To prepare a mask from acne mix 1 tablespoon of white cosmetic clay , 2 tablespoons of water, a teaspoon of lemon juice and half a teaspoon of propolis tincture. The mask is applied to the face for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. This prescription mask with propolis is suitable for any type of skin, but with very dry it can also add a teaspoon of olive oil. Apply the mask should not be more than 2 times a week.
