Plasterboard partition

Sometimes during the overhaul we want to radically change the design and architecture of the room. For example, zoning the room , highlighting and highlighting some of its area, create a kitchen-studio or fence the workplace from the rest of the space. In any of these cases, a partition of plasterboard will come to the rescue.

This design does not lose ground and remains a popular way of decorating the room and its visual division into zones.

Interior and decorative partitions made of plasterboard

Gypsum plasterboard partition is a sheet of gypsum board, with two sides planted on a metal frame. If the room with high humidity, use moisture resistant sheets (GKLV). They have a green color, so often the builders call them "green".

Gypsum plasterboard partitions can be deaf, soundproof, dividing the room with honey into completely secluded rooms. In this case, such walls are supplemented with mineral wool or glass fiber plates.

To install such an interior partition , first a metal frame is built, it is attached to the bearing structures of the house, and then covered with gypsum panels. To improve the heat and sound insulation properties, the frame is mounted on a rubberized or polyurethane tape, a layer of insulation is laid between the panels.

Such solid partitions can withstand considerable weight, they can be hung with shelves and cabinets. Moreover, the heavier they are, the greater the thickness of the drywall. If you want the partition to withstand from 70 to 150 kg / m & sup2, you will have to put special reinforced frames for the frame and complement them with metal rods or tightening supports.

It is quite another matter - a partition of plasterboard for zoning the room. It is much easier, it is often combined with glass or has lumens used for decorative purposes or as shelves.

The design of the plasterboard partitions is unlimited. They can have any shape and size. Curvilinear and rounded surfaces are made of a special drywall and curved skeleton. Sheets for lightweight decorative partitions have a thickness of 9.5 to 12 mm, are wet in the wet state, while they have excellent resistance to bending and retain the shape given to them after drying. You can order partitions of any shape and with any angles.

Advantages of plasterboard partitions

The surface of the partition leaves smooth, it can be painted right away, wallpapered, plastered. Drywall refers to refractory materials. And its hygroscopicity makes it an excellent "breathable" material for walls.

With the correct selection of the frame and sheets, such partitions are capable of withstanding heavy loads. Additional advantages of drywall - its high plasticity is the ability to give it any shape and configuration.

Undoubted advantages of working with gypsum cardboard include ease and speed of installation. The material itself has a small weight, so that the new partition does not create any load on the load-bearing structures of the house.

Disadvantages of drywall

Normal, non-moisture-resistant plasterboard is afraid of water. So it is undesirable to put partitions out of it in the bathrooms. Even if you use GKLV, it is impossible that the humidity in the room was more than 90%.

In addition, thin gypsum board can be damaged mechanically. For example, when falling on a partition or impacting a heavy object. Friability and low strength characteristics, undoubtedly, are a minus of such designs.
