Many happy owners of summer cottages and homestead plots try to plant a fruit tree in their house in order to harvest the ripe pears in summer or autumn. Fortunately, there are many varieties now and for every taste. We'll tell you about the pear variety "Chizhovskaya".

Description of pear variety "Chizhovskaya"

Pear variety "Chizhovskaya" was bred by Russian breeders S.T. Chizhov and S.P. Potapov at the Moscow Agricultural Academy. Timiryazev. The variety was obtained as a result of crossing of two varieties - the pear "Lesnaya Krasava" and "Olga". The official registration of the "Chizhovskaya" pear occurred in 1993, now it is a very common variety in the Moscow, Vladimir and Samara regions.

If we go directly to the description of the "Chizhovskaya" pear, it should be said that this is a mid-ripening and late-summer variety. The tree itself belongs to the stamping type, it is a medium layer. The height of the "Chizhovskaya" pear usually reaches 1.8 - 2.5 m. With gradual growth, the tree crown forms a conical or narrow pyramidal shape. The bark of the trunk of a pear and skeletal branches is light gray, and young shoots become red-brown in color. If we talk about the leaves of the pear variety "Chizhovskaya", then they are oval-elongated, elongated and smooth green. In spring, the tree is covered with white flowers, which are collected in the inflorescences of the cup-shaped six buds.

Separately it is necessary to say about the fruits of the pear "Chizhovskaya". They mature to medium size, reaching a mass of about 110-140 g. The shape of the fruit can be characterized as a typical pear-shaped or obovate. Pears are covered with a thin and smooth peel with a yellow-green color, with a slight pale pink patch. As for pulp, it can be characterized as semi-oleaginous in structure, medium-soused, very light, with a pleasant sweet-sour taste and gentle delicate aroma. Separately it is worth mentioning that the fruits of the pear "Chizhovskaya" are medium-ripening. This has an effect on the appearance of the pear - they perfectly retain their external qualities and well tolerate transportation. Fruits can hang on branches for a long time and do not crumble. The advantages of the "Chizhovskaya" pear variety include high yields (up to 50 kg of fruit are collected from the tree), frost resistance, early fruit, resistance to scab and some unfavorable environmental conditions. The disadvantage of the variety is the melting of the fruit with the age of the tree.

Pear "Chizhovskaya": care and planting

If you decide to have a sort of pear in your garden, pay attention to the fact that correctly chosen soil is considered an important factor for good growth. Planting a pear "Chizhovskaya" is produced in slightly acidic soil, well fertilized with humus, lime and mineral fertilizers (potassium chloride, superphosphate). If on your site the soil is acidic, add lime to the ground. In this case, three, four years after the vaccination, your seedling will bear the first fruits.

Despite the fact that the pear trees of the "Chizhovskaya" variety are self-fertilizing, many experienced gardeners and breeders recommend 3-4 m from the tree to plant a "Rogneda" or "Lada" pear as the best pollinator.

Since the crown of the pear of this variety is well branched, and the fruits with time fade, it must be pruned for rejuvenation. The procedure is carried out in early spring before active vegetation.

As for pear disease "Chizhovskaya", the variety is very resistant to most pathogens. The only thing, the pear does not like sharp changes in soil moistening, which leads to crackling of fruits, and, accordingly, leads to the appearance of decay.
