How to process stones for an aquarium?

Before laying, stones of natural origin must be cleaned of dirt, moss, lichen and boiled in water. It is recommended to carefully inspect the stone for the presence of metal particles in it, which can form toxic solutions in aquarium water, as well as some insects. Then there is a test of the stone for the presence of lime, for this, hydrochloric acid drips onto it. If foamy bubbles appeared, there is a lime, such a stone does not fit. After inspecting and processing the stones for the aquarium, they must be rinsed again with water and can be used for their intended purpose.

Decoration of the aquarium with stones

For the best effect, larger stones are better placed in the background, middle - in the center, and smaller - in front. Put the stones close to the walls, so that the fish do not get stuck in the openings.

All large stone structures are placed on the very bottom of the aquarium, so that the ground does not fall under them. The stones that form the caves are set one on top of another, providing them with stability.

Put the stones in the aquarium before you poured water into it. So you can avoid the displacement of the soil and, consequently, the destruction of the entire structure.

If the stones are small, for example: glowing stones for the aquarium, pebbles, gneiss, they can be put directly on the ground, however, in an aquarium where fish like to create shelters under the stones, this is not recommended.

Making an aquarium with different kinds of stones is always beautiful, natural and as close as possible to nature.
