Nutritive primer for the aquarium

A substrate for an aquarium is an important part of a closed ecosystem in which fish live. Beginners aquarists usually acquire artificial soil from plastic or glass stones, because they are attracted by the decorative properties of such a substrate. But it is useless, since it contains no substances capable of saturating underwater greens with vitamins and trace elements. Only the nutrient soil for the aquarium can support the vital activity of most algae and ferns.

How to choose an enriched primer?

Soil is needed to make the bottom plants rooted and able to regulate the ph-balance of water. It needs about 80% of all aquarium plants. Do you need nutrient in any aquarium? No, if it grows horny , Vallisneria, richey , ludwigia or moss. For them, a layer of simple sand or gravel with a thickness of not more than 2 cm

Pick up the soil you need, given its composition.

  1. Substrate with dolomite crumb reduces the amount of alkali in water, while anthracite - increases.
  2. If you want the soil not to affect the quality and characteristics of the water, use a rich mixture based on basalt or quartz.
  3. A porous soil with iron and silicon promotes vigorous growth of algae.
  4. The substrate with tourmaline can be used as a top dressing for emergency treatment of diseased plants.

The best universal nutrient primer for the aquarium necessarily contains clay, which binds different elements of the substrate together and suppresses the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

Self-starting aquarium

  1. Before starting the aquarium with nutrient ground, you need to rinse the bottom and walls of the aquarium with a combined scraper with a sponge.
  2. Rinse the ground before running with running water to remove dirt and dust.
  3. At the bottom add a layer of gravel in 1 cm, and on top lay 3-4 cm of nutrient soil or substrate mixed with top dressing.
  4. On top again, fill in the base soil - about 3 cm.
  5. Now you need to plant the plants: prikopayte substrate of each in the substrate, previously slightly pruned roots if necessary.

It remains only to install a filter and pour water.
