Namisom Island

A small, picturesque crescent-shaped island, Namisom, is located in the northern part of South Korea , 63 km from Seoul . This is often visited by tourists who want to relax from the bustle of the capital in a beautiful place in the bosom of nature.

History of the unusual island

We, or Namisom, are an island half-man-made. It arose after the construction of the Chonpen dam in 1944. The name of the island came from the name of General Nami, who participated in the suppression of the insurrection in 1467 (during the reign of King Sejong) and is buried there and then.

The kind that the island has today is the merit of two people, Mr. Ming, the former head of the Bank of Korea, and Mr. Kang Woo Hyun. It was these people who, on the most common shred of land with a diameter of 4 km, arranged a green park, where the beauty of nature and modern art harmoniously united.

Island today

Namis is the territory of tourists. Most of all guests like the fact that the island is a tiny and formal, but still a separate mini-state. It declared its cultural independence and became known as the Republic of Naminar. Here, their laws and regulations, visa requirements, passports, money and even mail!

A picturesque and natural view of the island is attached to the complete absence of power lines. All wires are laid underground. In the park, ostriches are free to roam, squirrels and chipmunks are visible in the foliage of trees. Thanks to this, tourists have the impression that the foot of a man has hardly come to them here, although this, of course, is far from being the case.

Foreign tourists are attracted here, above all, the chic nature of the island. But the Koreans associate this place with the music festival Kanben and the shooting of the series "Winter Sonata". Thanks to this, we have many installations in the form of snowmen, and the center of attraction for holidaymakers is a magnificent alley, stunningly beautiful at any time of the year.
