The territory of South Korea is 70% covered with hills and rocks. One of the most famous mountains in the country is Geumjeongsan. It is located in the northern part of the city-metropolis Busan and is very popular with tourists.

The highest point of the mountain reaches a mark of 801.5 m and is called Knodanbon. The summit is on the border of two cities: Yangsan and Pusan. Thousands of tourists come here daily. Especially there are a lot of them here on the weekends, when locals join the travelers.

What to see at Kumjonsan?

On the territory of the mountain there are popular tourist attractions. The most famous of them are:

  1. Sanson-mall is a small quarter that is located in a mountain valley and is isolated from other cities. The structure of the settlement includes several agricultural fields and pastures, intended for grazing animals. Visitors are treated here with traditional Korean dishes , acquainted with local peculiarities and way of life, and also teach folk crafts.
  2. Kumjonsanson is a fortress considered the largest in the Republic of Korea. It was founded in 1703 to protect state borders from sea raids. For the erection of the shrine, more than 1,000 workers were involved, who extracted building materials (beams and poles) 50 km from here, and stones rolled from the top of the mountain .
  3. Pomosa is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in South Korea . Here flows the stream of Beomeocheon, the sound of which fills the soul with the power of nature. Many monks love to meditate here and meditate on eternal life, and travelers simply rest.
  4. Through the stone blocks of Kimjonsan flowing river Naktongan, diluting the mountain landscape. On the forest path you can see another lake, called Suengan. Around these ponds, locals make picnics and halts. Features of visit

All tourists who are about to conquer Kumjonsan should take comfortable clothes and shoes, water and repellents, and in the summer - also headdresses. You should know that a very strong and piercing wind blows at the top of the mountain (many travelers even hide from it behind rocks), so take warm things with you.

How to get there?

At the top of Mount Kumjonsan can be reached in 3 ways:

  1. By cable car. Landing on it is made in the park of Kumgang.
  2. By bus. He departs from the Oncheonjang station and landed people in Sanson-mahall.
  3. On foot. The ascent starts from the north gate of the citadel of Kimjonsanson and stretches along the fortress wall. Here is laid a hiking trail that stretches to Knodanbono. In some places there are quite steep slopes and rises.

At the top of Mount Kumjonsan you can see stunning views and picturesque panoramas that span the nearest cities. It is possible to climb here only in clear weather.
