Is cystitis passed from woman to man?

Cystitis is the most common urologic infection in women. Therefore, quite often they are interested in whether cystitis is transmitted from woman to man, i.e. at sexual contacts.

How does cystitis develop?

In order to answer the question about whether cystitis is given to men, it is necessary to consider the mechanism of development of this disease.

At the initial stage there is a violation of bacterial balance in the vagina. The reasons are many: it can be stress, and pregnancy, as well as violation of hygiene rules. As a consequence, bacterial vaginosis develops . As a rule, it is chronic; has stages of exacerbation and remission (not always manifested).

The next stage is inflammation of the vagina and colpitis. In this case, purulent discharge is often observed, accompanied by severe pain in the region of the vulva and the lower abdomen.

The last link in this chain is inflammation of the cervix, which is also very painful, which then passes into urethritis, and from it, close to cystitis.

Is cystitis passed from woman to man and vice versa?

In general, considering the question of the relationship between cystitis and sexual life, it would be more correct to say that there is not a direct, but an indirect link between them, that is, the causative agents of sexual infections, having entered the vagina, reproduce and can cause the development of cystitis, especially in cases when the defenses of the body are weakened for some reason (reproductive system diseases, hypothermia, chronic infections of the genital tract).

Therefore, the answer to the question as to whether cystitis can be given from a woman to a man and vice versa is negative, because can be transmitted only by the causative agent, which under certain conditions will lead to the development of the disease.
