Planting and transplanting a room lily

Since the flowering period of the room lily usually lasts from June to August, it is recommended to plant it in the early spring. For a medium-sized plant, a pot with a diameter of no more than 20 cm is suitable. Pour the drainage onto the bottom of the pot, and then half fill it with a mixture of river sand and light fertile soil. Seat the lily bulb so that it is located approximately in the center of the pot (in height), straighten the roots and lightly ground the ground. Spilling the soil to the top will be possible when the stems rise above the edge of the flower pot. You can also put several bulbs of different kinds in one tub - it looks very impressive.

Before the appearance of green shoots, keep the pot with the lily in a dark cool place, and as soon as you see the young shoots - rearrange it on the windowsill or balcony. Do not forget to open the window and ventilate the room where the lily grows. During flowering, slightly increase the watering of the plant.

Lily does not require transplantation: during the spring-summer period, it should remain in the same container. If its dimensions have increased significantly during this time, then the next spring, just plant the bulb in a pot of larger diameter.

Possible diseases of a room lily

Diseases of indoor lilies most often result from excessive watering, insufficient air permeability of the earth or as a result of infection by its pests.

In the first case the bulb can rot, mold appears on it. It is necessary for a while to stop watering and change the ground: maybe there is too little drainage in the pot or the soil is too heavy. The reverse situation can also happen: when the lily is watered little, its leaves become dry, lose color, fade. Just reconsider the irrigation schedule, and the plant will recover.

In the second case, if you notice insects - a lilac fly or a beetle, a tulle - use insecticides to fight them.

Create suitable conditions for indoor lilies, and it will annually delight you with beautiful bright colors.
