What causes a protein in the urine of a child?
Parents should be aware that if there are changes in the analyzes, do not panic immediately. After all, the causes of increased protein in the urine of a child can be ordinary, not related to serious diseases. Here are the most common of them:
- stressful or depressive state;
- allergic reaction of different origin;
- high temperature due to disease;
- time after the transferred illness;
- prolonged dehydration;
- Strong physical activity.
Mums of small boys should know that with physiological phimosis, when the glans penis is not exposed, it is quite normal if a protein is found in the urine. After all, it is not possible to wash off the smegma before giving analyzes and its particles can give such a false result.
The same situation can be observed if the girl is not cleaned properly before she passes the analysis. In addition, in order for the results to be correct, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions - to pass exactly the average portion of urine, but not the first one.
The increased concentration of protein in the urine of the child, if it exceeds the permissible norm (0,033 g / l - 0,036 g / l), can be caused by the following diseases:
- pyelonephritis;
- cystitis;
- urethritis;
- trauma to the kidneys;
- urolithiasis disease;
- malignant formations;
- diabetes;
- hypertonic disease.
Classification of increase in the norm of protein
Physicians distinguish three types of proteinuria (increase in the amount of protein): prerenal, reanal and postreanal. The latter is detected with an incorrect structure of the kidneys, as well as a violation of work in them and the urinary system as a whole. This includes inflammatory diseases.
The first two types can refer to the so-called functional states and can appear after a blood transfusion or a large load on the spleen.
In addition, you should know that newborn babies have a slightly increased protein content in the urine, and the same can be in a child, up to puberty. This is due to the not completely formed urinary system and to a certain age goes by itself.
