Hard lambrequins usually duplicate flizelin or some other sealant. This is necessary so that they are dense and keep the shape. Fix these lambrequins on the bar in front of the cornice. Recently, for their fastening to the cornice, it has become fashionable to use eyelets.

Usually, soft lambrequin is made of curtain fabric, it is placed in interesting folds, drape the upper part of the window opening. Slabs of cloth in the form of folds of lambrequin are called svag.

Fabrics for soft lambrequins should be chosen light, and well draped, so that the folded folds look beautiful. The fabric consumption depends on the width and height of the svag. In lambrequin can be either one or several svagov, respectively, lambrequin can be simple or complex. In complex types of window decoration, soft and hard types of lambrequins are combined.

How to sew soft lambrequin by itself without using ready-made patterns and patterns?

We suggest you try to sew a simple lambrequin easily, without much effort. Believe, sew a lambrequin with your own hands on this simple principle on the shoulder of any mistress.

How to sew the lambrequin correctly:

  1. Fold the square of fabric with sides 1.40 m diagonally and note the fold of the middle of the svag.
  2. Let's start assembling the svaga. To do this, use a bar with marks on which the folds of the svag will be fixed. mark on the bar the planned width of the middle of the saga, as well as its shoulders. Hang a square of cloth on the bar observing the angle of 45 degrees. The indicated middle of the svag must coincide with the zero mark on the bar. Lay and pin the first fold of the svag.
  3. After the formation of the first fold, we also lay the second fold. For the convenience of forming folds and a better view of the center of the svaga, fix the weighting agent.
  4. We lay down in this way all the folds, observing the symmetry. All folds should be of equal depth. Do not forget to check the height and width of the center of the svag!
  5. Cut off the excess fabric and pin the top edge of the svag along the crease line of the folds - you can now dissolve the svag's fabric and transfer the contours of the part onto paper or dummy cloth - this will be your basic pattern. The bottom of the svaga is treated with an oblique bake, simply sewed or decorated with fringe or braid-glass beads. Top the svaga with curtain tape.
  6. If necessary, for example, close the gaps between the svagi, decorate the lambrequin with decorative elements such as ties, cascades and chilli.
  7. Tie to carve out even easier. To do this, build a trapezoid, where the parallel sides are equal to the length of the tie, and not parallel to its width. For example, the length of a tie = 30 cm on one side and 45 cm on the other, the width is chosen by model. The length of the tie should not exceed the length of the svag more than 20 percent. And more nuance - the wider the tie, the more space it will be necessary for him to leave on the cornice. Below is a drawing - a diagram of a tie.
