How to sew a butterfly?

At solemn events instead of a tie, men often wear a butterfly. She is also worn on little gentlemen. It is worth such an accessory is expensive, so you can make it yourself.

In this article 2 master classes on butterfly tailoring are presented: male and child. Run each of them will be quite simple.

Master-class number 1: how to sew a male butterfly

It will take:

  1. Draw on paper a pattern of the butterfly's detail and cut it out. When drawing it, you need to take into account that the thin part should be equal to half the girth of the throat.
  2. For this pattern, cut out 4 pieces of material and the same number of seal. Fold them in pairs and iron them to connect them.
  3. Stitch together 2 parts. We should get 2 long blanks. We impose them on each other face sides and puncture them along the entire length, aligning the edges.
  4. Spread around the perimeter of the workpiece, retreating from the edge of 1 cm. This should be done from the middle, since it is necessary to leave a hole 5-7 cm wide so that it can be turned to the front side. Make the bevelled corners from both ends.
  5. Now it is necessary to turn this workpiece to the front side. To do this, we squeeze one end and using a long wooden skewer, push through the hole left in the middle.
  6. We do the same with the other end. After that, the hole must be sewn by hand.
  7. The finished product is smoothed and your man can tie a butterfly.

    Before deciding how to sew a butterfly around your neck, you should find out whether your man can tie it (which is not easy enough), or it is better to make it ready, in a more easy way.

    Master-class №2: we sew a butterfly

    It will take:

    • thin fabric (best cotton);
    • clasp;
    • steamer;
    • sewing accessories.
    1. Cut out of the material 2 rectangles: the 1st dimension of 7.5x3.5 cm, the second - 11x20 cm. Take a large rectangle and add it in half. Sew, retreat from the edge of 5-7 mm.
    2. Turn it to the front side and turn it around so that the seam passes in the middle, and not along the edge. We turn the inside of the edge and spend it.
    3. Fold the workpiece in half, so that the seam is outside, and spend it on the edge. We turn the part. It is very important that the first seam is inside, and the second is in the middle in the front.
    4. We take a small rectangle. Fold the front side inward along the long edge and sew. Since the part is very narrow, turning it inside out is just so very difficult, so we pin the pin to one edge, and with it we turn it out.
    5. Seam, as in the first part, we have in the middle. Using scissors, fill the short edge inwards.
    6. Sew this strip on the short edge and turn it out so that the seam is not visible from the outside. We squeeze the first workpiece in the middle and pierce it so that it does not straighten out.
    7. Using the ripper, make a hole on the small part and insert the clasp into it.

    Pull the first part into this ring. Butterfly is ready!

    If you do not have the opportunity to purchase such a clamp, you can do the following:

    • measure the neck circumference;
    • cut out of the same material a rectangle with a length and width of 5 cm;
    • fold it in half along the long side and stitch it;
    • to pass the received strip through a ring on the butterfly;
    • on the edges to sew velcro.
