How to make a periscope with your own hands?

Your child does not give rest to the laurels of captains of submarines and detectives? So, the next couple of hours you will spend incredibly fun, and even with the benefit for the cause, creating a periscope together!

Take a look - which method seems to be the most successful for you?

1. How to make a periscope from cardboard boxes or packs of milk with your own hands

In this list are all the necessary materials:

Well, shall we begin?

If you chose the boxes of milk, then do not forget to wash them well and dry them. In such boxes, cut off the triangular tops.

Step 2. Then you should connect the boxes together in the empty middle area with tape.

And by the way, if you want to increase the length of the periscope in the future, you can attach another box without sidewalls in the center!

Step 3. To the right side of the box, attach a mirror (do not forget to back off the edges!) And circle it with a simple pencil.

On the resulting markings, carefully make a cut with a stationery knife. Then turn the box over and follow the same procedure, but on the left side.

Step 4. In the prepared holes it's time to insert a mirror at an angle of 45 degrees.

Mount them from the inside on a reliable double-sided adhesive tape on the top and bottom edge of the mirror.

It is important to remember that the adjustment of two mirrors can take some time, so do not rush to fix them as fast as possible.

Step 5. The installed mirrors should be visible through the holes entirely.

At an angle of 45 degrees, the first mirror will reflect light on the second. Well, if you are not sure that you have precisely determined the required angle, then continue to adjust the mirrors, looking at the bottom.

Once the corners are adjusted, you can see from the bottom hole everything that is seen at the top, which means - your periscope is ready for incredible adventures!

2. Self-made periscope from PVC pipes by own hands

You will need:

This time the task will be more difficult, because all the necessary materials - the holes of the pipe, the holes of the knees and the diameter of the mirrors must match exactly in size. But if you approach this process thoroughly, then you will find everything you need for work in any hardware store or on the Internet.

Step 1. The first thing to do is to attach the knees to the edges of the pipe.

Do not forget that their holes should look in different directions (this is practically a real periscope!)

Step 2. In a similar manner to the first method, set the mirrors to the edge of the knee at an angle of 45 degrees.

Step 3. When the two mirrors are placed at the desired angle and the visibility (overview) is adjusted, securely fix their edges to the double-sided adhesive tape.

Well, in this case, for reliable operation of the device, mirrors can be glued even to epoxy resin.

Done!

Well? It seems that fascinating investigations have already been waiting for you?
