Over the past decades, we increasingly began to think about how to most economically spend electricity and gas for heating the premises in the house. And, fortunately, mankind has come up with a way how to save yourself from spending money on paying extra cubic meters and kilowatts. It consists in warming the building with various heat insulators, which allow to keep all the heat in the room.
There are many ways how to insulate the walls of the house. One of the most popular today is the decoration of the exterior walls of the house with expanded polystyrene (foam). This material perfectly insulates and, besides, it is not expensive. In our master class, we will tell you in detail how to insulate the house with foam plastic with our own hands.
To begin, we will prepare the necessary materials and tools, namely:
- sheets of foam plastic - thickness 30 mm;
- priming;
- plaster fiberglass mesh;
- special glue for polystyrene foam;
- starting profile;
- plaster;
- dowels;
- brush;
- perforator;
- putty knife.
How to properly insulate the house with foam plastic?
- First of all, we clean the surface of the walls from dirt, stains, plaque and fungus, if any.
- Before insulating the walls of the house, they must be treated with a primer for better "adhesion" of materials. Apply the brush to the prepared surface.
- When the wall is dry, fix the starting profiles with dowels on it, making holes in the wall with a perforator. If the walls are wooden, you can use self-tapping screws.
- Now the most important step is sticking the foam to the wall surface. We make dry glue with water according to the instructions and carefully mix it with a construction mixer.
- On a sheet of foam plastic, apply glue and fix the sheet to the surface of the wall.
- Since we need to insulate the house with polystyrene without gaps and holes, we cut out excess pieces of material with a knife.
- When the glue is completely dry, make drill holes in the joints of the foam sheets and insert dowels of the fungus into them.
- Using a putty knife, apply a layer of plaster to the prepared surface.
- On top of the plaster "stelim" fiberglass mesh.
- We cover all our heat-insulating pie with plaster. Now you can start finishing the building.
As you can see, it's easy to insulate the house with polystyrene foam, without the help of specialists and unnecessary costs.
