It would seem, to glue wallpaper on smooth gipsokartonnye sheets - a pleasure. This is so, but in order for everything to go perfectly smoothly, it is necessary to carefully prepare the gypsum plasterboard surfaces for gluing. In addition, if you paste wallpaper on an untreated drywall, then in the future they will be impossible to remove - so firmly they are stuck. Handling of drywall before wallpapering
The work on the preparation of gypsum board surfaces for wallpapering consists of several stages. To do this you will need these tools:
- wide plastic spatula;
- roller for smoothing the wallpaper;
- wide or narrow brush or roller for applying glue;
- scissors or a construction knife;
- sandpaper;
- ribbon-serpyanka.
- First, a primer is applied to the gypsum boards. It is best to use an acrylic primer, which, penetrating deeply into the cardboard, will form a strong protective layer. This is done to ensure that the adhesion of putty with gypsum plasterboard is stronger. In addition, the primer will protect the walls from the development of fungus and mold. Apply primer evenly with a brush. The coating must then dry completely.
- The next stage is puttying joints. Before the beginning of this work, it is necessary to paste a mesh-serpyanka on all corners, places of fastenings and joints. In addition, it is necessary to handle all the metal parts of fixing the drywall with an anti-corrosion agent, which will prevent rust through the wallpaper in the future. Then you can apply the filler over the mesh, checking that there are no voids near the fasteners and joints. Allow to dry the putty.
- Now we need to sand the surface with sandpaper. We proceed to the filler of the entire surface of the gypsum board all-over. Apply the putty knife in two layers. For the first, we use the starting filler, for the second we finish. Allow the walls to dry well and thoroughly sand with fine-grained sandpaper. The final stage of processing the walls of gypsum board before the wallpapering will be a repeated primer, which will reduce the consumption of glue, and any kinds of wallpaper will be more firmly attached to the walls. You can paste wallpaper on gypsum board and without putty. However, you must choose a dense wallpaper of bright saturated colors, against which background small irregularities will not be noticeable.
- Pasting of walls from gypsum cardboard with wallpaper does not differ from the design of ordinary plastered walls. Mark the walls for wallpapering. To begin this work better from the window, having carried out a strictly vertical line, from which we begin to glue the first sheet of wallpaper.
- Prepare an adhesive that will match the type of wallpaper you have chosen, and you can start to paste by placing the sheets side-to-side. When gluing conventional paper wallpaper after gluing with glue, it is better to paste them on the wall immediately. Otherwise, the paper will get very wet and can tear. Dense wallpaper, after they have applied a layer of glue, it is necessary to fold the adhesive side inward and hold it for 3-5 minutes and only then they can be glued to the wall. We smooth the glued panel from the middle to its edges.
- On the upper edge, the wallpaper is cut after it dries completely. To do this, press the sheet with a wide spatula and, with the help of a sharp knife, cut off the excess part.
