Primer for wallpaper

Starting any repair, you need to think over two of its polar components: one that is responsible for all the interior "beauties", and the second - technical - on whose "conscience" and keep these "beauties". Translate the previous sentence as follows: your repair, no matter how stylish it may be, will not cost the invested money if the creative approach is not supported by the correct use of modern materials. Especially it concerns the treatment of walls. Economy or ignorance of the correct procedure in this case is fraught with mold on the walls, falling off together with plaster wallpaper, air bubbles and all sorts of other minor (and not so!) Troubles. If you want to avoid this, use a liquid professional primer for wallpaper.

Here it is necessary to emphasize separately that we are talking about the modern product of the construction industry. After all, the process of preparing the surfaces for the subsequent decorating itself has always existed. But unlike the current high-tech time, it was previously assumed that a primer is a weak adhesive solution. As a consequence, such a composition not only did not ensure 100% adhesion of surfaces, but also could not qualitatively inhibit the growth of bacteria and the appearance of fungus. Modern primer also allows you to increase the reliability of fixing almost any materials, and additionally strengthen the technical coating, for example, plaster, and with the help of special additives disinfect the surface, protecting the room from the appearance of mold, even with a drop in temperatures and a fairly tangible humidity. Naturally, all this is only true with the right choice.

Types of primers for walls

Primers differ depending on the type of binder in their composition. There are 4 main types:

  1. Primers based on acrylic . Most often used for wallpapers. They have a number of advantages:
  • Alkyd primers . Ideal for wooden surfaces. This type of primer when in contact with the tree allows you to create a coating that is susceptible to any further decorating. Have a drying time of up to 15 hours. Allow both to cover the walls with wallpaper and paint.
  • Hyftal primers . Used to prepare wood and metal for subsequent wallpapering. How much dry such a primer for wallpaper depends on the specific type of wall, but, as a rule, this time does not exceed a day. Choose this type of primer, if you want to make repairs in the garage or cottage. However, remember that they can only be used at low humidity.
  • Perchlorovinyl primers . Used mainly for external work. They are applied, as a rule, to metal or concrete, treated with plaster. Dry for an hour.
  • Thus, a primer is a liquid substance of a complex composition used in the final stage of technical surface treatment. Of particular importance is the use of quality composition when preparing the walls for subsequent wallpapering. It is in this case, the primer increases the adhesion, and provides reliable disinfection, and guarantees the service life of the new repair. As an added bonus, using a white primer under the wallpaper, you give the walls maximum color uniformity, which can play an important role in the subsequent application of a light and / or thin coating.
