How to determine the size of the headgear?

Few of us know the size of our headgear - after all, we choose them "by eye", with the help of fitting, and it seems that this information is superfluous. But at least once to turn to the services of tailoring, how this knowledge becomes extremely necessary.

How to know the size of the headgear?

So, to determine the size of the headdress, several measures must be taken. Initially, it is necessary to measure the circumference of the head. To do this, put a centimeter tape so that it passes through the forehead and above the auricles to the occiput. As a result, the tape will be located 1.5 - 2.5 cm above the eyebrows. The amount of centimeters is the size of your future headgear. Do not forget that when measuring, the tape should not be taut.

Once you have measured the circumference of the head, compare the result with the data in the dimension table. If your size matches two sizes in the table, choose the smallest. After all, the hat should sit tight on the head. Moreover, if the product is knitted, you need to consider that the thread will eventually stretch.

You need to take measurements and based on how the headdress will sit on you. If you wear a hat on your ears, then you need to measure along the line of the ears as well. If you prefer hats on the side, respectively, and the centimeter will go at an angle.

In addition to the above-mentioned measure, there are two more: a line of longitudinal arc and a line of a transverse arc. In order to measure the line of the longitudinal arc, the centimeter must be drawn along the brow ridges and up to the protruding part of the nape. In this case, the headdress sits 3 cm above the brow, because the length of the sewing longitudinal arch is 3 cm less.

To measure the transverse line, you need to spend a centimeter from one temple to another through the crown of the head. This line will also end up 3 cm shorter, so that the cap does not sit on your ears.

One of the easiest ways to determine the size of women's headgear is to measure the circumference of the head with a thread and ruler. Thread the same points as the centimeter tape. Then measure with a ruler the length of the thread that you received.

By the way, do not forget that some caps can be adjusted using the built-in pull tape. Thus, you can vary the required sizes within 2-3 units.

If you need a headpiece of one clear size, then it's best to choose a product on a knitted fabric so that the cap does not stretch over time.

The European sizes of headdresses differ from the Russian ones. Typically, the tables give examples of both, and another option. Therefore, you only need to measure the circumference of the head, and then compare it with a table of European sizes.
