There are several stages of how rabies occurs in the most typical "violent" form:
- First comes the prodromal stage, when the dogs become lethargic, are not interested in the surrounding world. Other dogs suddenly feel love for the owners and require caresses. Characteristic signs of the disease - constant yawning, walking with open mouth, depressed form, saliva from the mouth is slightly more than usual.
- In the manic period it is much easier to understand how to determine the rabies of your dog after a bite, because at this time it will completely change the behavior. Animals without a cause to grumble, can gnaw boards or furniture, growl at people. Saliva is very strong and strongly pronounced hydrophobia - the diseased creatures feel fear and do not approach the liquid at all. They prefer to climb under the sofa or get lost inside the cabinet. With such pets you need to behave very carefully, dogs sometimes do not distinguish strangers and family members, rushing lightning at people.
- The paralytic stage looks terrible. Animals do not eat or take water, lose interest in life. Paralysis affects the larynx and limbs, death occurs most often after stopping breathing on the third day.
In return forms, sometimes there are improvements for a couple of days or a week, but more often such periods are replaced by new even more severe bouts of the disease. Also sometimes there is an atypical form of rabies, in which there is no division into special periods. The extinction of animals is accompanied by weakness, vomiting and diarrhea, it occurs gradually in two or even five months. In this case it is very difficult for a layman to understand how to determine rabies in such dogs. When your pet contacts wild or suspicious animals, it is best to contact veterinarians immediately and never neglect vaccination.
