How to bind mittens with knitting needles?

Knitting is one of the most fascinating activities, especially if the result of the work is to be desired and very useful things, for example, warm winter mittens. Many believe that knitting with knitting needles for beginners mittens is the hardest and most difficult task, because you will have to learn the so-called circular knitting. In fact, there is nothing difficult to knit mittens, and it's easy to tie warm gauntlets to a loved one.

Learning to knit mittens with knitting needles: the traditional way

The yarn is chosen, the knitting needles are bought, it is only necessary to get down to work.

  1. The standard set of knitting loops for mittens on circular knitting needles is a multiple of 4, since the loops will need to be spread over 4 spokes. For female mittens, 44 loops are usually collected.
  2. Then for each of the 4 spokes, 11 loops are distributed, a kind of a circle of 4 spokes with strings hinged on them.
  3. The lines start from the extreme knitting needle, on which there are no thread ends. The rows are tied in a circle, without edge loops. The binding is an elastic band, usually 2 * 2 or 1 * 1.
  4. The height of the gum will depend on the length of the mittens, that is, the longer the elastic, the more mittens will cover the wrist.
  5. After the gum mittens are knitted with a stocking knit, facial loops.
  6. Attention! Add loops do not need! The shape of the mitten will be formed due to the transition from knitting elastic to hosiery.
  7. The thumb will need to be tied separately. In its place on an additional spoke 6-8 loops from a number already tied are typed. In order to make up for missing loops in the main mating row, they are again recruited to the working knitting needle. Further, the binding of the main cloth of the mitten of the required length continues. The thumb is also fastened in a circle, on four spokes.

The mitt is finished with a decrease in the loops. You can reduce the hinge evenly from both sides, in this case the toe will be pointed.

Hosiery does not involve patterns. Those who want to create patterns for mittens with knitting needles, you should choose the way knitting mittens on two spokes.

Mittens with two spokes

Such mittens are knit in the usual way, on two spokes. The halves of mittens are used, then they are connected. The only difficulty is tying the thumb on the inside of the mitten.

Stages of knitting mittens on two spokes:

  1. The back of the mitten is tied with the chosen pattern to the end of the little finger, then the hinges are reduced. For simplicity of reduction, you can finish the pattern in two rows to the tip of the little finger and tie it with stocking knit, and then lower according to the scheme below. The hinges remaining after the rounding off (reduction) are not closed, but are transferred to an additional needle or thread.
  2. Inner side - palm - begins the same as the back. But to the bottom of the thumb, the loops need to be divided into four parts, three of which are removed on an extra spoke or pin, and one piece is worn on the working spoke. Then you need to get the same number of loops on the second spoke as it is on the working spokes, for this you have to take an additional thread (better bright contrast color - then it is pulled out of knitting). New loops are tied with a thread from the main tangle (which the mitten knits). Then the mating continues, the result is a developed thumb mittens.
  3. Open loops from the tied thumb are gathered on a pin, the auxiliary thread is pulled out of knitting. Open loops along with the loops left from the knitting of the finger, are put on the spoke. The finger is ready.
  4. Knit the rest of the mittens just like the back side.
  5. To complete the knitting, you need to tighten the upper open loops with a thread, or close the mittens together with the hinges of the back side and fasten them from the wrong side. The fabric of the thumb is sewn with a knitted suture. Mitten is ready!
