For cacti, which have more developed surface roots, you need a pot that is small, but wide enough. The same species of succulents, which have a pronounced central root, will require a narrow and deep container for planting. The material from which the pot is made, in principle, does not matter, but most of all cactuses like clay or plastic "houses."
2. The temperature of cactus like moderate, without strong changes. In winter, they should be put in a cool place where they will successfully live until the spring at +5 ... +13 С. Leaving the cactus to winter on the windowsill should provide for it protection from the flow of hot air from the heating battery, for example, use a sheet of plexiglass or plexiglas.
3. Cacti like good lighting, without it they begin to ache, die and deform. To avoid this, it is better to put a pot of cactus on the southern window, and in any other place in the apartment to use additional lighting.
4. Water cacti should also be correct - abundant as the land dries in the pot in the summer, and minimally (once a month) in the winter.
5. More than any other house plants, cacti need fresh air, but they are afraid of drafts. From this it follows that the room with cacti should be regularly ventilated, while watching so that pets do not catch cold.
6. Feeding cacti can only be specially designed for this type of plant feeding, as conventional organic or mineral fertilizers can seriously harm them.
7. In summer cactus is better to put on the veranda or balcony. Outdoors, they will have the opportunity to temper and grow stronger, which will contribute to their easier wintering.
8. Cacti are quite difficult to tolerate any permutations. Especially it concerns the turns around its own axis. Therefore, the pot with the cactus should not be turned or moved from place to place without the urgent need.
