Bronchial asthma - the algorithm of emergency care

  1. During an attack of bronchial asthma, the first point of emergency care is to ensure rest for the patient and ensure a flow of fresh air if an attack occurs in the room. To translate the patient should not, he should occupy a sitting position, which helps improve respiratory muscles and facilitates the departure of phlegm.
  2. The patient needs to unbutton the clothes, if it squeezes the chest.
  3. Give the patient an inhaler that helps to increase the clearance of the bronchi (with Albuterol, Metaproterenol or Terbutaline).
  4. Give the patient a diphenhydramine or a similar action of a medication.
  5. Call an ambulance if the patient's condition is very difficult, or the treating doctor, if the patient's condition is estimated to be close to stable.
  6. All possible allergens surrounding the patient must be eliminated.
  7. If no improvement occurs, the patient is administered 60 mg of Prednisolone - this will relieve the inflammation and acute course of the attack.
  8. If Prednisolone does not alleviate the condition of the patient, then there is a threat of an asthmatic status that leaves severe consequences for a person's health - the patient loses consciousness and may lose his life. In this case, urgent hospitalization is necessary.
