Medical technologies are developing intensively, especially in terms of developing new medicines. Cephalosporins of the 5th generation today are one of the most progressive areas of pharmacology, which is given much attention in the medical community, given the rapid adaptation of bacteria to antimicrobial drugs.
Antibiotics of the group of cephalosporins
Unlike the earliest penicillin drugs, these substances are more resistant to enzymes released by pathogenic microorganisms. Cephalosporins do not lose their harmful effect on bacteria, regardless of their type (gram-positive or gram-negative). They are effective against most coccal, rod-like organisms.
Antibiotics 1-3 generations are not very effective against enterococci, while modern cephalosporins successfully fight with such microbes, penetrating into their cell membrane immediately after the first entry into the body.
It is also worth noting that, despite the high toxicity of chemicals for pathological bacteria, the antibiotics described have a minimal effect on the internal organs, the human immune system.
Cephalosporins, due to a very wide spectrum of action, are used in the treatment of such diseases:
- chronic and acute inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract;
- infections transmitted during unprotected sex;
- diseases of the urinary tract, kidneys;
- pathology of the joints, bones with a pronounced inflammatory process;
- Dermatological disorders with the formation of furuncles, suppuration, trophic ulcers;
- diabetic foot ;
- gangrenous lesions;
- diseases of the upper respiratory tract, bronchi and lungs.
As a rule, the new generation of cephalosporins presume a less prolonged course of treatment, which is about 7, but not more than 10 days. Such a period of time ensures the achievement of the desired therapeutic concentration of the active substance in the body, but does not cause symptoms of intoxication, hepatic damage, or immunosuppression.

The only registered and approved antibiotic for the examined group is Zefter, which is manufactured in Belgium. Active component of the drug is medocaryl ceftobiprol.
This substance is an antimicrobial drug effective against the majority of staphylococci and streptococci , resistant to cephalosporins of early generations, as well as penicillin preparations. Moreover, ceftobiprol is active against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobes. It is worth noting that the mutagenic activity of the infection is extremely rare when treated with a medication, usually the bacteria do not adapt to the antibiotic.

Cetofibiprol is available in the form of a powder intended for dilution with glucose, lidocaine or distilled water in an amount of 500 ml for intravenous infusions (droppers). As long as cephalosporins of the 5th generation are not produced in tablets, since such a drug administration does not achieve the necessary level of absorption and therapeutic effect.
