How to drain water from a stretch ceiling?
The first thing to do when you see the sagging covering of your hanging ceiling is to immediately notify the neighbors about the problem. Covering the suspended ceiling - it does not matter, from the PVC film or special fabric - is waterproof and can hold water, but within certain limits. Accurate data on how much water can withstand the stretch ceiling, no - these figures fluctuate very significantly for different manufacturers: from 50 to 100 liters per 1 sq. Km. m of the ceiling.
Once you notice the deluge in the form of a so-called bubble on the ceiling, immediately disconnect the lights that are there.
The next step is a phone call to the firm that installed you stretch ceilings. As a rule, such specialists always go quickly to the scene and promptly eliminate the problem. To do this, they assess the amount of water and its discharge from the stretch ceiling. After saving your ceiling, it will be restored and re-tensioned with a heat gun. Calling the masters to drain the water is the best thing you can do in a similar situation, besides, it is paid, as a rule, by the guilty neighbors.
But in case you found such a "surprise" late at night, and even on a day off, you risk not calling the company, and then you will have to solve the problem of draining yourself. Do not wait for the beginning of the working day, because there is always a risk of leakage, and then damage to your property is inevitable.
In order to drain the water from the stretch ceiling, cover the furniture with cellophane tape, and take all the valuable things out of the room. Then prepare as much as possible buckets or cans for water. You will also need helpers to empty the water-filled containers. The main thing when draining water from a stretch ceiling is to determine the location through which you will do it. Usually this is either a hole for the lighting fixture, or the closest edge of the canvas to the bubble. So, standing on the ladder, we remove the chandelier (or release the edge of the cover from the corner hook) and gently lower the edge of the hole into the substituted container. If there is a lot of water, it makes sense to use a hose that is inserted at one end through the hole in the ceiling and the other is lowered into the bucket. As it is filled, the hose must be squeezed until the next empty container is delivered to you.
So, we note that the watertightness of stretch ceilings is an obvious advantage in comparison with other finishing materials. Such a coating will not allow water to instantly flow down, spoiling your belongings and furnishings.

- smoothing the bubble with the help of improvised means (the water will spread in different directions, and then it will be much more difficult to drain it, in addition, mold will start to appear due to the remaining water in the enclosed space between the present and the stretch ceiling).
