Growing dolhosa from seeds is not an easy task, but in order for seed germination to be good and seedlings to be strong, a number of operations should be carried out.

When to sow dolichos?

Experienced gardeners are recommended to ensure a long flowering period of the climbing plant, to sow seeds on seedlings in March. But if for some reason you did not manage to sow the dolichos in early spring, you can do it in April and even in early May, because the heat-loving liana in conditions of temperate climate in the open ground is planted at the very end of May and even at the beginning of June, when the danger passes night frosts.

How to grow seedlings seedlings?

To accelerate the germination process, each flower seed must be processed. We offer several variants of scarification of the dolichos seeds:

  1. Treated with a nail file.
  2. Grind it with fine sandpaper.
  3. Make a puncture with a needle on the seed.

After processing, the seeds are placed in the water at room temperature for a day, and it is desirable to change it several times. In boxes or individual pots with a nutrient mixture it is worth adding a little chalk or wood ash , since dolichos prefers neutral or slightly alkaline soils. Seeds are planted at a depth of 3 cm. In the room where flower sprouts are grown, a constant temperature regime of +20 degrees and above should be maintained. Watering is carried out approximately once a week. In May, grown-up bushes are carried to the balcony or veranda to gradually adapt the plant to the natural conditions of growth. Already at the stage of cultivation of seedlings of the dolichosa, most likely, low support will be necessary.

How to plant dolhahos in open ground?

As already noted, it is recommended to plant a curling lilac in an open ground only when the soil warms up. The place where it is planned to grow dolichos should be well lit, and the soil - loose and fertile. Wells are made at a distance of 20 cm. It should be borne in mind that the root system of the plant is very fragile, so transplant the bushes with extreme caution. Immediately next to each plant, a support is installed, which can be bought in specialized stores or made from wood by yourself. In order to give the dolichos proper growth, a garter is made with thick threads or thin ropes.

How to take care of a dairy farmer?

The most important thing in caring for the creeper is abundant and regular watering. In hot, dry weather, the plant is watered daily. As a top dressing potassium and nitrogen fertilizers are alternately used, and complex fertilizers can also be used. For the duration of the growing season, feed dolichos is recommended once every two weeks. Keep in mind that small yellowish spots on the leaves of the plant signal a lack of potassium, and not that the vine is damaged by pests or sick. Dolihos is generally resistant to diseases and parasites, which is especially attractive for gardeners.
