Datur - growing out of seeds at home

Datura, better known as dope-grass, is often used in the decorative design of adjacent areas, despite the fact that the plant is poisonous and can smell and stupefy with its odor. The flower is incredibly beautiful and completely unpretentious in the care.

Cultivation of the datura from seeds

In growing the datura from seeds at home, there is absolutely nothing complicated. Even a budding florist can cope with this. And you need to start with checking the seed for fitness. Simply lower the seeds in a container of water and watch - good seeds will settle on the bottom, and with those that will remain floating on the surface will have to say goodbye.

The remaining seeds must be soaked in warm water for 2 days. You can add a growth stimulant to the water to accelerate germination. A container with soaked seeds should preferably be placed on a light sill.

Before beginning the cultivation of the datura from the seeds, it is necessary to calculate when it will be possible to plant them in the open ground. As the shoots appear only for 15-20 days, and they will be ready for planting after another 1.5 months, it is necessary to start early enough that by the end of May you had ready seedlings. Optimal seeding shift in March and early April.

The soil for the seeds of the datura must be light and nutritious. It can be a mixture of garden land with humus and sand. As for capacity, it is best to take a deep box that will not interfere with the development of the root system of the flower.

Seeds do not need to be deepened into the ground, only 0.5-1 cm. After sowing, the box with soil and seeds is sprayed and covered with glass or film. The greenhouse is put in a warm place with an average daily temperature of 18-20 ° C.

With the appearance of the first growths, the datura is rearranged to a bright place in the house, watering becomes more frequent. Gradual hardening of the plant also begins. Already after a month and a half, when the shoots get stronger, they can be moved to the open ground.
