There are situations when you want to lie down for a day's rest or watch a movie, and the sun shines brightly on the street. In these cases, curtains on the windows that do not allow sunlight will help. In the winter, they will protect you to some extent from the cold and drafts. At night, such curtains will not let into the room the light of street lamps or the flickering of a traffic light outside the window.
What curtains do not let in the light?
To prevent the curtain from passing through the light, it must be sewn from medium to high density fabric. Often to enhance the light-protective effect, the curtain is made with a lining. The following materials can serve as a material for curtains that do not transmit light:
- velvet - a regal matter, having a short dense pile on the front side. It is made of silk, cotton threads and viscose. It can look different, depending on the angle of view.
- silk - dense natural non-creasing fabric, use of the lining increases the light-protective properties of the material;
- wool - for its manufacture use sheep yarn, has excellent light and soundproof properties;
- moiré - a fabric with a beautiful iridescent shine, often used in original blinds;
- brocade - a dense material with patterns, similar to embroidery. Long curtains with lush folds and flounces will look chic and perfectly protect from the sun;
- Damascus - silk fabric with shiny and matte patterns is often used in blinds and curtains;
- atlas - a material in the composition of which there is silk in conjunction with flax or cotton. Excellent draped and protects from light. Curtains look particularly impressive thanks to the shining face of the fabric;
- Blackout is a synthetic material made of polyester fibers, is the most popular fabric that does not transmit light, providing 100% light protection. In production, the fabric is treated with several layers of acrylic foam. A two-layer material is used to make a lining, and three-layer material is produced by roller blinds.
Dense curtains that do not allow light can be of different types: classic and Austrian, French and Japanese, roll and Roman.
