Crocodile farm


In the small Czech town of Protivin Pisetskiy krai since 2005, there is a crocodile farm, which is enjoyed by both tourists and residents.

A bit of history

The owner of the farm, Mikhail Prochazka, was carried away by the breeding of crocodiles in 1996. In 2005, he purchased from private owners a site on which there was an old manor house with a historical building of the 18th century serving as a stables. The building was refurbished, and in 2008 the crocodile farm opened the doors for the first visitors. In October 2010, the management announced the reconstruction of Krokodýlí ZooProtivín. It ended six months later; the inhabitants of the farm got new, larger terrariums.

The collection of crocodiles also has replenished. In addition, there was an exhibition of Philippine birds. Since 2011, the farm accepts visitors all year round - before that, it worked only in the warm season.

Exposition

Today the crocodile farm occupies 2,000 square meters. m. Here you can see 22 of the 23 registered crocodiles in the world, including those that are on the verge of extinction (for example, the Philippine and Siamese crocodiles and Indian gavial). The nursery is carrying out a program for the reproduction of endangered species.

It was here that for the first time in Europe it was possible to breed in captivity Cuban crocodiles. The most popular among tourists are:

In addition, there is a collection of poisonous snakes from all over the world. Promotions for school children

Groups of 10 schoolchildren +1 attendant are served free of charge. The excursion includes an inspection of crocodiles, a visit to an incubator, a serpentarium, a zoological museum. At the end of the excursion, students can be photographed with crocodiles.

How to visit a crocodile farm?

To get to the city of Protivin from Prague, you can by road number 4 and D4 for 1 hour 40 minutes. or on the road number 3 for 2 hours 5 minutes. In both cases on the way there are paid sites.

The farm itself works without days off, from 10:00 to 16:00; on public holidays it is closed to visitors.
