When selecting the composition of compost for growing champignons, one should adhere to such recommendations:

  1. Use fresh manure or litter, as during storage, useful nutritional properties are lost, which makes them unsuitable for composting.
  2. It is necessary to exclude the presence of sawdust or shavings of coniferous trees in manure, as the quality of the compost deteriorates. This is due to the content of resinous substances that adversely affect the growth of champignons.

Compost production for champignons

Composting for champignons is a complex process. At the same time, carbon dioxide and ammonia are released, so it should be carried out in a barn that is well ventilated, or under a canopy. Another option would be to cover the compost heap with a plastic wrap, leaving the side surfaces open.

The process of composting includes several stages:

  1. Straw is soaked for 1-2 days, abundantly watering it with water.
  2. Form the pile, for which the straw and manure are divided into 3-4 parts and stacked in layers (each layer of straw alternates with a layer of manure).
  3. Each layer of straw is moistened, sprinkle urea on top with 600 g per coat.
  4. After a lapse of 5-6 days after the stacking, the stacking is carried out. Compost is mixed and moistened, sprinkled with gypsum or alabaster.
  5. After 4-5 days, a second break is performed. This time the compost is sprinkled with chalk and superphosphate.
  6. After 3-4 days make a third break, and after 3-4 days - the fourth.

The whole process takes 22-26 days. Thus, compost for champignons can be made by hand.
